Forum: feature_films Subject: Upload Failed?

Just finished High Powered a few minutes ago. I watched it upload (ftp) all afternoon. Things looked great. Took about the right amount of time. Watched it go up byte by byte.

Tried just now to check it in and the avi file and the upload directory itself have, I think, vanished.

Pointers and tips welcome. Thanks.

Without more details, I can't tell much. Being unable to get to a movie's page has happened to me before, though, when some sort of error occurred as I was being taken to the movie's metadata page. It likely will reappear in a few hours in any case, if you see an error message when you go to its page now. There should be a link to allow you to send a report about the error on that page, which might speed up the process.

When I try to go here:

http://www.archive.org/checkin/High_Powered

It says:

Checking item dir...
No files appear to have been FTP uploaded.
Did you FTP upload to subdirectory "High_Powered" on server "items-uploads.archive.org"?
Please upload files there and revisit this page to proceed

The answer to the automated question is yes. But, now, as I said, the directory itself seems to be gone. I'll do as you suggest and wait a while and try it again.

Thanks, Bill, you have saved me a lot of time re-upping. I don't know if I was just paranoid about losing it, or missed a screen, or whatever. I do see why the directory disappeared; it shifted from an ftp address to a check-in http. Oh, well.

It just now let me check it in and all should be well. Thanks again.
